A. Basic Rules of Muay Thai

Muay Thai, with its emphasis on both offense and defense as well as on stamina, is a martial art anyone can learn: men, women, young or old. With the interest in Muay Thai growing fast, martial-art schools in Europe, America and Asia have added it to their curricula. To learn it well, the player should know some basics of Muay Thai.

Muay Thai is fought in five three-minute rounds with two-minute breaks in between. The fight is preceded by a wai khru dance, in which each contestant pays homage to his teachers. You will notice that each boxer wears a headband and armbands. It will be removed after the wai khru dance, and only by the boxer’s trainer. The referee plays a very important role, since boxer’s safety depends on his decision.

It is said that the tune is a siren song that the true Muay Thai devotee can never resist.

Equipment that is necessary for Muay Thai matches must be provided by the stadium. There are a stopwatch, a signal gong, a warning bell, and boxing gloves of various sizes according to the rules, equipment to provide water for boxers, and other additional personal accessories for boxers who have not prepared their own such as boxing shorts in red or blue, jock straps, surgical tape, or sacred cords.

B. The Ancient Art of Kickboxing

King Pha Chao Sua was so involved in the sport he used to disguise himself as a commoner to participate.

He was further so supportive of the sport he ordered his army to be trained in the art, and interest swelled. The Burmese king, King Mangra, himself so impressed, applauded his achievements, and granted Nau Khanohm Tom his freedom. By the 1930s groin protection was introduced. International enthusiasm grew slowly; it was as late as 1995 when the first world Amateur Muay Thai Championships were held.

Kick boxers will use hand wraps, i.e. pieces of cloth to wrap around their hand beneath gloves. Today the gloves are much thicker for the protection of an opponent, but light gloves are also available for training against bags. Shin guards, and groin protectors are also worn. Kickboxing is phenomenally popular today. Classes may be offered at your local gymnasium, or police and citizens youth club, alongside all respected martial arts classes.

Certainly a grading system exists today as with other martial arts. Grading and competitions are held regularly. Kickboxing as all martial arts, is suitable for everyone from children, to women and men. Full contact is strictly and safely controlled, and participants do not fight outside of their ability. Certainly kickboxing training is an ideal exercise that can be performed at your own individual pace and ability. Many classes are offered as either contact or non contact training.

Any sportsman knows that no matter the actual sport being played, the shape of the athlete determines whether the team wins or losses. Many athletes know that lean body weight is ideal for optimum performance regardless of the game being played. In many cases, athletes discover that after a period of time without proper exercise their body weight begins to increase. In order to maintain a lean body weight, an athlete must undertake a number of steps which we will examine next.

Exercise daily
In order to maintain peak sports performance, an athlete must exercise daily. This ensures that the muscles are kept toned and the fat is kept at bay

Watch the diet
An athlete who desires to keep his body weight lean must not succumb to his bestial appetites as far as natural cravings for food. A healthy emotional support system such as a family can also help in keeping the athlete focused

Adequate sleep
A lean body cannot be maintained without proper sleeping habits. Studies have shown there is a correlation between weight gain and sleep patterns. People who sleep less tend to gain weight while people who sleep more tend to be leaner.

Some sports do not require a lean body.

One of the Oldest Lies in Boxing Training Workouts

Lifting heavy weights will make you slow is a myth that has been around for many years. This old myth comes from boxing coaches who never questioned it and who no nothing about strength training for boxers. Ask any coach what is their main goal in training their fighter? To get strong, you have to lift heavy weights. Performing a hundred push ups and lifting light weights for over 25 reps won’t get you strong. Performing high reps won’t, but high reps are often what a boxing skill coach will tell his fighter to use.

Boxing skill coaches also fail to understand that strength and speed, are the prerequisites for power. So to be powerful, you have to be strong and fast. The key is though you must combine speed strength exercises with your strength training to increase the rate of force development. Keep in mind, by rate of force development, I’m talking about how fast you move an object. If you wanna be fast, you have to move fast.

A strength training block won’t make you slow as long as you add speed training exercises after a strength base is built. You can add more speed exercise in a future block or add both speed exercises and strength exercise together in the same training block to increase speed.

Speed is born from strength. Weak fighters are slow for a reason. When you are strong and fast, then you have true power.

Boxing Gloves

It would be pretty hard to train without some necessary boxing equipment.

The first boxing equipment you need are a speed bag and a heavy bag to throw punches at daily.

A mirror is essential boxing equipment, so you can do shadowboxing. This type of boxing equipment allows you to develop agility.

A workout suit is necessary boxing equipment when you go jogging, especially since many boxers go jogging in the early hours of the morning when it is quite chilly.

The shoes you need as boxing equipment for the ring will be different of course. A well-calibrated weighing scale is a very important piece of boxing equipment because boxers fight based on what weight category they belong to. This gives you a clear idea of where you are at your training, especially if you are training to become a professional boxer.

A groin-guard (like a sport cup) is very necessary boxing equipment for male boxers (but naturally not for female boxers), along with a head-guard and mouth guard. Among these three, the mouth guard and head-guard are the most important boxing equipment. The mouth guard prevents your teeth from getting accidentally knocked out by a blow to the head, and a head-guard prevents your head from being knocked about too much during the sparring session.

Of course, during real pro matches, no head guards are allowed, only mouth guards. There are speed bag gloves, heavy bag gloves, and sparring gloves that all boxers have to use at some point. You also need hand wraps to wrap your wrists and knuckles with prior to putting your hands in the gloves, as another type of precautionary boxing equipment. But of course the most essential boxing equipment is your own willpower, the ability to take punches and return the same to your opponent, and willingness to devote yourself to training.

A. Choose a Martial Arts School That Teaches You How to Survive

Get into a good martial arts school that teaches you how to survive! Don’t spend years learning useless forms or how to use weapons that were popular in ancient societies. Find a school with a curriculum that emphasizes overall fitness, self-defense, and survival!

Most martial artists will tell you that your chances of surviving abduction once an attacker gets you into his car are slim to none. On Wednesday, July 28, 2004, Larissa del Mar Fiallo, Miss Dominican Republic, was assaulted by two men who tried to kidnap her in the parking lot of a shopping mall. Combat sports schools such as boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, MMA, judo, and jiu jitsu are very good places to learn, because in most cases, you get a sense of reality in the training.

The first is application for the street. Combat sports are just what the name says, a sport. Not so in the street. In the street there are no rules, in fact things considered foul play in a combat sport are probably the best techniques for the street. So if you’re in a combat sports school find an instructor that can teach you the logic and the crossover from the ring to the street.

If you attend a school where there is reckless abandon in the training or you constantly are fighting far more superior students, it’s only a matter of time until you get hurt. It is also harder to defend yourself (impossible with serious injuries) when you are hurt. Ancient warriors invented martial arts training to better their chances on the battlefield. Pushing your body and mind is part of martial arts training, but so is keeping your body healthy and safe. Most people are concerned with their safety in an increasingly uncertain world. Ms. Fiallo’s years of judo training paid off. Are you ready to fight for your life?

B. Necessary Precautions to Consider When Coaching Amateur Boxing

In boxing, as in any other contact sport, close supervision is imperative to avoid unnecessary accidents.

In virtually every high school and college or university in the United States a boy intending to compete in basketball or football must have a certificate of physical fitness. The same precaution must be taken for a boy who wishes to box.

A well-padded ring enclosed properly by ropes is an absolute essential. Never permit boys to box where there is a chance of falling to a hard floor or against objects which might injure them. Every coach should insist that his boys wear headgears, mouthpieces, and protective cups at each boxing workout.

Permit no exceptions. If a mouthpiece slips out, or a headgear becomes improperly adjusted, time should be called to replace the mouthpiece or to properly adjust the headgear. No boy should ever be allowed to box even a single round without properly bandaged hands. It is a grave mistake to permit boys to pair off indiscriminately as boxing partners.

All rule books, whether for amateur boxing or professional fighting, provide that a doctor be in attendance at ringside. Call on this man to examine carefully each boxing team candidate before he actively engages in the sport; have him observe the boy at any time you have reason to suspect any injury or illness; and require that each boy undergo examination the day of a match. The National Collegiate Athletic Association Boxing Guide has been carefully and thoroughly prepared.

In 1982, Canastota, NY residents chose to honor Carmen Basilio, one-time welterweight and middleweight champion, and his nephew Billy Backus, 1970 welterweight title holder. It was this single project that sparked the enthusiasm needed to explore the possibility of creating boxing’s inaugural hall of fame and museum. In 1989, the project was completed with two dozen former boxing champions on hand.

The International Boxing Hall of Fame held it’s ribbon cutting ceremony on what is a major tourist attraction to this day. Among them, legendary boxing great, Muhammad Ali. Since that time, the International Boxing Hall of Fame has added an additional wing to the museum and an event pavilion, which sits adjacent to the hall. Each year, in early June, the International Boxing Hall of Fame holds it’s annual induction ceremony to highlight the four-day celebration of the sport of boxing and it’s legendary athletes.

One of the most impressive aspects of the International Boxing Hall of Fame is it’s memorabilia shop, which offers a rare opportunity for autograph collectors to own some amazing items. Everything from autographed boxing gloves to a post, robe or speed bag is available for purchase. The Everlast boxing robe, which sells for $275.00, features 23 autographs and is available through the International Boxing Hall of Fame’s website.

For additional information or to place an order, collectors may write to: Boxing Hall of Fame, 1 Hall of Fame Drive, Canastota, NY 13032. The International Boxing Hall of Fame can be accessed online at ibhof.com.

Intro to Boxing Champions

Did you know that boxing is sometimes called as ‘pugilism’? And it is generally called as English boxing or Anglais boxing. If the fist fighting never end before an agreed number of rounds, then the winner is chosen either by the judges’ score cards or by the referee’s decision. Modern boxing slowly evolved in Europe, principally in Great Britain, UK.

In certain countries with their own fighting sports, the game is known as English Boxing and in countries like France it’s called French boxing. For instance, boxing is shown in Sumerian relief arts during the 3rd Millennium B.C, while an ancient Egyptian relief at Thebes; it depicts the spectators with fist fighters, both arts depict bare fisted contests. Boxing or Fist fighting is also described in various ancient Indian texts such as the Vedas, Mahabarata and Ramayana, as well as during the excavations made in Harappa and Mohenjadaro.

For the game of Boxing, there are two globally recognized boxing halls of fame; they are IBHOF - International Boxing Hall of Fame and WBHF - World Boxing Hall of Fame, the IBHOF is a widely recognized boxing hall of fame. In 1989, the International Boxing Hall of Fame was opened in Canastota.

The first inductees in 1990 included famous boxers like Benny Leonard, Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Henry Armstrong, Archie Moore, Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali. Other world class boxing figures are Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran, Eusebio Pedroza, Ismael Laguna, Carlos Monzon, Rocky Marciano, Azumah Nelson, Pipino Cuevas and Ken Buchanan.

Muscular endurance and strength are both improved through weight training and if you want to succeed in boxing, you should find time for a good weight training routine. Today’s boxers are bigger, faster, and stronger. As a boxer, you must punch, slip, and block with flash movements and lightening speed.

A boxer must opt for a sport specific training if he wishes to be successful inside the ring. The great majority of boxers today still run 4 or 5 miles on a daily basis. These long aerobic running sessions does precious nothing to prepare the boxer for the physical demands he will face inside the ring.

One of the best ways to condition the body for boxing is through what may be called interval running. Intervals consist of intense, sustained running for a predetermined distance or time. The general interval running for boxers consist of distances of 200, 400, 600, and 800 meters. Amateur boxers fight two-minute rounds. The 600-meter interval will meet the anaerobic demands imposed upon the body during the bout. The 800-meter interval is ideal for these boxers.

It is best to run intervals 2 or 3 days per week. This sample workout should integrate shadow boxing, sustained running, and 100-meter sprints. A weekly running program should consist of intervals, sprints, and an occasional aerobic run. One or two distance runs per week are recommended to give the boxer a break from the intense running sessions.

The actual boxing workout will consist of two primary forms of training - skill training and conditioning. The skill training portion of a workout will consist of shadow boxing, bag work (heavy bag, double end bag, and speed bag), punch mitt work with a trainer, sparring, and defensive drills.

A. The Right Way to Train for Boxing

So to become a good boxer, proper training is always a must. Training helps the boxer to learn about various punching techniques and helps to increase the punching power.

Boxer must be prepared to fight with intensity, round after round. A boxer must train in a sport specific manner if he wishes to be successful inside the ring. Most of the great boxers run 4 to 5 miles everyday. The fighter must pattern his training after the physical demand of sport.

Boxer should not waste his valuable time in long slow distance running. The best way to condition the body for boxing is through interval running. The most common intervals for boxers are for distance 200, 400, 600, and 800 meters. Amateur boxers fight 2-mins rounds. The 600 meter interval will closely meet this demand. Professional fighters fight for 3-mins rounds. So the 800-meter interval is perfect for these boxers.

This interval training will help to bring down your heart beating rate to anaerobic levels and will improve the recovery time between interval and running times.

A boxer must maintain his strength and explosiveness for all rounds. A weekly running should consist of intervals, sprints, and an occasional aerobic run.

The actual boxing workout consists of two primary forms of training- skill training and conditioning.

B. The Art of Boxing :skills, Drills and Benefits

Boxing has continually been refined and perfected over the ages.

Today professional boxing is recognized as a major sport attracting many sponsorship deals and there is huge money involved making boxers millionaires. Amateur boxing is also not lagging behind, with amateur boxers willing to fight driven by a strong desire to avail the many benefits.

Innumerable pay-per-view boxing events are attracting millions of watchers worldwide. Ever since boxing became a global phenomenon, the fitness industry has fully exploited the boxing popularity with training classes for boxing. The typical boxing training session stimulates all muscle groups, and provides the perfect combination of aerobic with oxygen exercises and anaerobic without oxygen exercises.

Attending an established boxing training school provides you with the required physical and mental strength, coordination, both aerobic and anaerobic fitness and powers of endurance. The most important exercises include heavy bag, speed-ball spring-ball and medicine-ball work, skipping, running, weight-training and wind-sprints.

In short, boxing improves ones reflexes, stamina, muscle flexibility, speed and cardiovascular fitness. Seasoned boxers will tell you that boxing is the ultimate sport for countering stress. Please know that hitting the heavy bag for five to six rounds tremendously relieves physical and mental stress. Make sure to get trained in full contact sparring - although it is optional in many boxing classes - as that provides the perfect platform to fine-tune your fundamental boxing skills…

Before engaging in any form of boxing training, you must possess the right equipments for both safety and performance reasons. The equipments you would need are - bag and sparring gloves, wraps, mouth guard, speed-ball, heavy bag, skipping rope, medicine ball and focus mitts.

Keep your feet space shoulder width apart while turning your left shoulder to the front of your body. (Ribs) Your hands are up and chin tucked. This is a proper setup for boxing stance. I’m going to teach you a great drill that teaches you how to move while keeping an ideal punching stance.

The Box Drill

Boxing stance starts in ideal position and ends in ideal position. The box drill teaches you how to do this. To begin the box drill, get into your stance and move to the right with your right foot initiating the movement. You end the drill in ideal punching stance. Again, start in ideal stance/position end in ideal stance. Be sure to keep your left shoulder in front, elbows touching the ribs, hands up and you move while being on the balls of your feet. It is a big mistake to square up while moving.

Moving forward the front foot leads while the back foot follows and you again end in ideal stance. When moving backwards your back foot leads while your front foot follows, ending in ideal stance. Again…When performing the box drill be sure to keep your left shoulder in front, elbows touching the ribs, hands up and you move while being on the balls of your feet.

Closing Thoughts

The box drill will lay the foundation of moving with proper stance and keeping it. This basic skill is lacking in many amateur and even professional fighters today. Many Fighters punch with their feet too wide or too close together limiting their balance. Many fighters make the mistake of squaring up when moving laterally.

Some Love It, Some Hate It - Boxing

Boxers like Mohammad Ali have been a delight to watch and one would not mind staying up late in the night to watch a fight between Cassius Clay (which is what he was called) and Sonny Liston.

Light weight boxers are more of a pleasure to watch. They are nimble footed and can therefore use all the wonderful techniques that boxing entails. It is an essential part of the training that goes into boxing. Another aspect of the boxing fitness regime is running. Running on the road provides stamina and builds endurance. In the gym, they concentrate of various equipments like speed ball and the heavy bag. The speed ball is used to practice quick response and the heavy ball is used for power training.

Following the exercise and diet regime that the boxers have to maintain can ensure that you remain fit and healthy. To inspire you, you should consider buying boxing gloves, a heavy bag and speed balls.

Contrary to common belief, many people consider boxing as extremely male. Women can also benefit a lot from the training in boxing techniques. Boxing can help you build your self-esteem and confidence.

Many people around the world look towards to Christmas to celebrate this joyful festival and present Christmas gifts to their dearest and nearest. People send warm and happy wishes to each other at Christmas. What is this “the best Christmas gift”?
These days almost all the stores, shops, malls or service companies offer you a great variety of magnificent items and services. You can find gifts for your parents, kids, beloved, spouse etc. and say “Merry Christmas to you”.

A gift which will please and surprise the recipient will be the best gift. Some people like practical gifts when others like something original and extraordinary. For example- driving, flying, music experience gift ideas are full of fun and excitement. Flying or driving experience vouchers, concert tickets or tickets to a football match can be precious gifts that let the recipients incredibly enjoy the time.

Splendid Christmas ideas for children
Books! To buy toys? Junior pop star recording studio experience, the mini thrill, junior rally experience, a junior rally driving half day, a star is born etc. these are some of the most popular gift ideas. Mini singing and recording party experience is a priceless gift for your children and the entire family.

Gifts for sports lovers
You sure won’t be clueless if the recipient is a sport lover, because all sport lovers are fond of items connected with their favourite kind of sport. That is why if you give a pair of little toy boxing-gloves to a box fan it will be a lovely little Christmas present to your friend.

A. Getting The Most Out Of Amateur Boxing

Professional fighting is a business conducted for monetary gain. Amateur boxing is a competitive sport or recreation. We are directing our instructions, advice, and suggestions to the coach supervising boxers individually or in groups; to the boy who, motivated by a desire for competitive or recreational activity, wishes to learn the fundamentals of boxing; and also to the father who acquiesces to the urge to teach his son the art of boxing.

We believe that too often the fundamentals of boxing are overlooked in favor of complicated punches, series of maneuvers, and fancy footwork. Experience has proven that the methods of teaching and learning boxing employed throughout this book are just as adaptable to youngsters as they are to boys of high school and college age.

My personal enthusiasm for amateur boxing stems from my experience with the hundreds of fine young men with whom I have worked as a boxer, as coach at the University of Wisconsin, while in service with the Marines, and as a coach of the United States Olympic team. Woody’s foremost rival in college — Heston Daniels of Louisiana State University — flew one of the United States Army planes participating in General Doolittle’s first raid over Tokyo.

Here again the pilots were carefully selected from among the finest physical and mental specimens in the United States Army Air Force. The famed and great Jimmie Doolittle himself first gained prominence as an amateur boxing champion.

A Captain of Navy Air personnel who was in a large measure responsible for the selection of candidates for Naval Aviation placed boxing number one on the list of sports that best qualify a boy to be a pilot. He attributed this to the splendid coordination; to the lightning-fast timing and sharp reflexes; to the superb physical condition; and to the “will to win,” or competitive spirit, developed in a well-supervised boxing program.

B. Boxing Equipment Ensures Safety of Boxers

Boxing is a physically demanding sport that requires strict workout regimes, which are accompanied by special training equipment that keeps the boxer safe during fights.

The heavy weight bag helps the boxer in practicing knockouts through a body hit. For superior training, boxers use punching bag that act as a slam man for practicing landing combinations, planning body shots, and in understanding the punching style and its effect on the body.

So boxers prefer to wear boxing shorts in the ring and cover the body with boxing goodie jacket when outside the ring.

Safety equipment
The safety boxing equipment includes headgear, groin guards, hand gear and mouthpieces. Boxing gloves protect the boxer against any kicking and knocking as otherwise the boxer might get a fracture in his hand. There are different types of gloves like speed bag gloves, heavy bag gloves and sparring gloves. During the time of boxing, the boxer uses shoes to fight. Boxing headgear protects the boxer from any head injuries and damages while boxing. The mouth guard protects the boxer from any injury to the jaw and mouth region.

Buying boxing equipment
The boxer should use all the boxing equipment available in the market as these equipments ensure safety of the boxer and help him during training. As various online retailers offer information regarding different boxing equipment and even offer guidelines regarding proper boxing techniques.

C. All About Kinds of Boxing Equipments

To safeguard the boxers against any damages, kick boxing equipments are designed and produced. Kick boxing equipments are considered to be the important requirement for kick boxers and without such boxing equipments, the boxers finds difficult to manage the show.

Some of the popularly sold kickboxing equipments are boxing gloves, boxing shoes, boxing head gear, bag boxing and many other products. Some of the kinds of boxing equipments are

Boxing Gloves
Boxing gloves are gear used to wear in the hands of the boxers. Boxing gloves are special gear which helps the boxers to be protected against knocking and kicking.

Boxing Shoes
The other saleable product in boxing gear is boxing shoes. During the time of boxing, the boxer uses boxing shoes to fight.

Boxing Ring
Professional boxers make use of boxing ring for boxing. Boxing ring fetches more demand among boxers and more number of boxer’s uses boxing ring as per their requirement.

Boxing Head Gear
Like other boxing gear, boxing head gear is also kickboxing equipment used by the boxers. Boxing head gear protects the boxers against injuries and damages and boxing head gear is used compulsorily by huge boxers.

Different kinds of boxing gear are designed and produced by manufacturers.

You’ll find yourself in the company of new brothers and sisters who would respect and treat your ideas as sacred as their own. They will give you wonderful insights, provide you with better opportunities, and introduce you to other people within your community. How’s that for getting a job done while staying at home and doing forums?

Imagine a sports haven where people are able to bond with other people who share their inspirations and aspirations in life. A brotherhood will open for you if you’ll just click on your browser and type in cappersinsight.com/forums.

Mouth-Watering Features to Seduce You

This site offers different forums wherein spirited sports players can jot down their own insights and feelings. This would be like having an online diary where you would be free to babble on and say whatever you have in mind. With this, you can have access to ideas and experiences of other ball players. Maybe you’ll find a retired coach perfect to teach your son, or you might pick up a useful tip or two once you start exploring. More information about the forums would be disclosed near the end of the article.

CI also offers the Calendar option wherein any member would be free to put down dates to remember for other readers. Your ten-year-old is having a soccer game? Why not save it in the Calendar and allow other members of CI to visit your area and cheer for your son? Or if you’re feeling out of touch with the sporting community, you can check out the Calendar to see what events are being held near your area. Maybe a sports clinic is open nearby, or maybe your favorite baseball player is coming! You will have access to an online calendar which will guarantee tempting sports offerings that will fit your every desire.

Another feature to look forward to is the Member’s List. Now you can spend your time talking with someone who understands the same terms as you do. Imagine if you’re talking to a basketball player who talks about free throws, fouls, and traveling, while you yourself are a devoted soccer player who knows about corners and goal lines.

It would be a mess, right? If you can find someone who shares the same passion, the same will, the same love for the game, then it would be perfect. Now you can have more friends to spend that Saturday night with in case you need someone who would understand the beauty of a hotdog sandwich and a hot game.

The Best Bit: Forums with Different Rooms and Different Moods

The forums serve as different rooms wherein you can talk about a specific topic. There is a Welcome to Cappers Insight forum where the aim is to welcome new members. Here, new forum members introduce themselves. Well, it’s a great room really as it would help you get to know other members. And since you are encouraged to list down your hobbies, favorite sport, among others, you will immediately find someone who shares your interests.

Another room in the Welcome to CI forum would be the Forum Rules, where you don’t have to go stumbling in the dark for rules. This would give specific rules and guidelines while you’re saying what’s on your mind to ensure that you can avoid offenses and avoid being blocked.

The next category would be Gambling and Entertainment. There are rooms like Cappers Corner and Poker Room which are dedicated to all kinds of gambling-related subjects. Now you can exchange Poker tips with someone who is an expert on the field! Stock Market room is open for businessmen who want to talk about figures and the stock market and plain business, while the Fantasy Sports Discussion category is for those who play in fantasy leagues.

The best part of the Gambling and Entertainment forum would be the Open Discussion, Polls, and Headlines News rooms. These rooms would allow you to talk about anything and everything under the sun. Polls will give you an opportunity to get inside people’s minds and see what they are thinking, and headline news will keep you posted about the latest information in other areas. Wow! Is that a great deal, or what?

Let’s now get down to the details of the Handicapping category. This forum is dedicated to specific types of sports. The first room would be for NFL, CFL, and Arena Football which every American seems to know about. Feeling the need to know what’s happening with college football? Then select College Football once you enter the site! Another would be the rooms for College Basketball to NBA and WNBA.

Who doesn’t love basketball? The great part about CI is that it is not limited to just a particular sport. It can run from NASCAR to other Motor Sports to Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Baseball, Hockey, Golf, Soccer, etc. Everybody wants gifts, right? Well, with the Contests Forum offered by CI, members will be given opportunities to get priceless items. Imagine yourself owning a ball autographed by your favorite player! Promised prizes are gift certificates, clothing and other cool rewards. The Cappers Insight Contests are available daily, weekly, and monthly. Maybe now’s the perfect time to start stocking up on those precious sports memorabilia!

Then there’s the Health and Fitness Forum. Ah, another tempting room. Not only will this section give you better ideas as to what to do with your health, but it will also give you the opportunity to talk to people who wanted to lose weight and actually succeed. Now you can have both motivation and a role model with your battle for your weight.

Lastly, there would be the Hall of Shame Forum wherein you can bash anything you want. This forum is Rated R, so children are not supposed to see them. You would have to abide by the rules though. All they’re prohibiting are posts that are obscenely gross.

Register Now!

You can now have access to an online forum where you can talk about sports, meet new people, win prizes, be informed about the latest events in the sporting world - and talk some more about sports. All you would have to do is to type www.cappersinsight.com or forums on your browser and let your fingers do the work. Click Register to sign up. This is absolutely free of charge, and you would be asked for only minimal information like your birthday and choice of user name. After that, verification would be sent to your e-mail address, and voila! You can now start surfing and posting on its wonderful forums!

Remember, if someday people talk about sports, would you have something to contribute because you are in the know?

With origins in Thailand, Muay Thai is a popular sport in many Eastern countries. Surprisingly, it began as a martial art known as Krabi Krabong (a Siamese martial art) in which weapons were used. This is quite unique, considering that in modern Muay Thai, weapons are not used at all. Krabi Krabong soon morphed into the ancient Muay Boran, a martial art very close to the Muay Thai as it is known today. Again, with time, Muay Boran evolved yet again and was divided into four different art forms for different regions North, Northeast, Center Region and South and were called Muay ThaSao, Korat, Lobburee, and Chaiya.

Each of these different forms placed emphasis on a particular philosophy or technique the Center region (Muay Lobburee) took intelligent and quick movements to heart while the South (Muay Chaiya) preferred to emphasize a student’s defense techniques and proper posture. The most famous of stories belonging to the history of Muay Thai involves a Master by the name of Nai Khanomtom.

During a match with a Burmese martial artist, Nai Khanomtom performed his best for the king during that time King Mangra. King Mangra, however, was impressed and asked that Nai Khanomtom fight nine more Burmese opponents to prove himself. Although it is true that Muay Thai has had its hand in contributions to many martial arts that are, in fact, well known in other countries, such as kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

A. Ancient Muay Thai

Muay Boran is the Other name of Ancient Thai Boxing. It is a traditional form of Muay Thai which is still taught and practiced in Thailand. Muay Boran is still practiced and taught in order to preserve the Boxing Techniques from Muay Thai’s History before the introduction of formalized rules and the introduction of gloves in the 1930s.

Muay Boran is the ancestor of the modern day Muay Thai Boxing. The late Arjarn Samai Messamarn from the Buddhai Swan Institute in Thailand was able to make a study of the Thai empty hand system using the scant resources available in Thailand. Only two records of the techniques, hand-painted on parchment now exist.

Arjarn Samai’s son, Arjarn Werayut Messamarn recently visited England bringing with him one of these unique documents. Most people recognize this period in the history of Muay Thai as fighters used to wrap their hands in cotton twine. Today, people refer to this style of fighting (during this period) as “Muay Kaad Chuak” although at the time, this isn’t the term people used.

Although the government of the time prohibited this style of fighting(with wrapped hands) people still continued to practice the arts and fight underground. Eventually, by introducing rules, and providing fighters with better protection, competition became safer, and the sport of Muay Thai was born.

Here are some information of the techniques used: Technique 6 (Buddhai Swan) - The boxer grabs the opponent’s neck twisting him from side to side, and then throwing a knee to the opponent’s body, finally the boxer will push the opponent away finishing with a high kick to the opponent’s neck. From the 60 major techniques in the Buddhai Swan syllabus there are other minor techniques plus many different variations and additional moves that can follow on from the main techniques.

Besides the Buddhai Swan techniques, we have uncovered at least another 60 different techniques from various sources including Arjarn Yodthong from the Sityodthong Camp, Arjarn Panya Kraitus author of the book “Muay Thai Most Distinguished Art of Fighting”, the late Khun Bunyuen Suvanatdha former head of the Amateur Muay Thai Association of Thailand and Kru Lang of the Sitpralang Camp in Ayuddhaya.

The discovery of Muay Boran in the West has taken us on a journey back through time.

B. Muay Thai-thai Kickboxing

Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing has been described as the world’s toughest ring sport and is one the most lethal forms of martial art. Malaysians call it Tomoi, Muay Lao in Laos, Lethwei to Burmese and Pradal Serey in Cambodia.

Punching techniques or Chok are similar to Western boxing: the straight punch (Mud Trong), Mud Wiang San or hook, the swing- Mud Wiang Yao, the uppercut Mud Seuy, Cobra Punch or Kra-dod Chok, and the undercut or Mud Hook. Teh, or kicking techniques are an essential part of Muay Thai combat. It consists of the straight kick Teh Trong, the roundhouse Teh Tud, diagonal kick Teh Chiang, the shin-knee kick Teh Krueng Kheng Krueng Kao, the down roundhouse kick Teh Kod, the axe heel kick Teh Kao, jump kick Gra-dodeh Teh, step-up kick Kha Yiep The, and the spectacular spinning heel kick Teh Glub Lang.

The dangerous Neb or pecking kick is an often executed Muay Thai kick and is very similar to the straight kick. Clinching in Muay Thai involves putting one’s hands behind the head of the opponent and pulling it downwards. The different knee strikes are the Kao Trong or straight knee strike, the Kao Chiang or diagonal knee strike, Kao Kong curving knee strike, Kao Tud horizontal knee strike, Kao Tod knee slap, Kao Youwn knee bomb, Kao Yiep step-up knee strike and the Kao Loi or flying knee strike.

Traditional Muay Thai training methods were grueling and literally took blood, sweat and tears to endure.

C. An Insight Into Muay Thai Kick Boxing

King Nareasan was victorious, freed, and returned home where he declared the fighting style (then called Siamese style boxing) a national sport.

The art of muay thai kick boxing is known as both a hard martial art and as “the deadly art.” Muay thai kick boxing is a self defence art developed in Thailand and it enjoys immense popularity in many south-Asian countries as well.

Muay thai kick boxing is the national sport of only Thailand, though it has become popular in many other countries. The main point that separates muay thai kick boxing from western developed boxing is the fact you are allowed to use shins, knees, elbows and fists. This practice was ended when international muay thai kick boxing tournaments began.

This ultimate full-contact martial art, builds stamina and mental toughness. Unlike other forms of martial arts where grappling is done on the floor, the grappling done in muay thai kick boxing is done while standing. Muay thai kick boxing appears as an extremely violent form of martial arts.

C. Good Tips to Do Muay Thai Training Safely

To do it correctly, you must seek the guidance and supervision of a professional Muay Thai instructor at all times-from warm-up to your training session proper.

1. You have to get attuned to the proper Muay Thai techniques so that you can train intelligently and improve progressively.

2. You can gauge your effectiveness as a trainee when you hit the training court.

4. You have to possess a great level of discipline so that you can train successively without quitting.

5. To progress accordingly, you must train as regularly as possible.

6. Learn the basics before grasping on the advanced techniques.

7. You have to gain utmost balance, muscle harmony, appropriate timing and preciseness of execution in order to train in Muay Thai with best results.
Bearing these tips in mind will you jumpstart in Muay Thai without a doubt. As you step up in your speed and endurance level, you will realize that this kind of training isn’t just exclusive for boxers but also individuals who can handle intense fat-burning workout.
